This is a project I decided to do for a class I am taking called Family Foundations. It is a great class based on the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ as it relates to the family. The purpose of the gospel of Jesus Christ is all about families, from the pre-existence, to this life, and also the after life.
Sister Julie Beck gives a great talk[1] regarding the theology of the family. There are three key doctrines tied together. She says "it's based on the Creation, the Fall, and the Atonement."
1. The Creation-The earth was created as a place where families could live. The two essential halves of the family were the creation of a man and a woman.
2. The Fall-Provided a way for families to be born here on earth by giving Adam and Eve an opportunity to have children in a family. We need to be born and have experiences in this life.
3. The Atonement-Provides a way for families to be together forever. Families can have eternal growth and perfection through the Atonement of Jesus Christ.
The three pillars of our theology are all based upon families.
To better understand the eternal purposes of families it is
necessary to study our Heavenly Father's plan, also referred to as
the Plan of Salvation since it is about the salvation of the entire human family.
